Burlington

Quaint historic main streets lined with one-of-a kind shops, boutiques, antiques, coffee shops, locally owned restaurants and microbreweries beckon you to stay and linger for awhile. Theatrical productions such as Guns of Ava and Crazy for You, give you even more reason to stick around.

Whether you are looking for a sweet treat at Smitty's Homemade Ice-cream, a locally brewed beer at Burlington Beer Works, or to see one of the many theatrical productions playing monthly at the historical Art Deco Paramount Theater, Downtown Burlington has many fun small surprises.

Burlington offers a unique shopping experience. For many Made in NC items The Owl & Rabbit Gallery is the place to visit. Purchase a colorful lock from the gallery and have it inscribed with you and your favorite person's initials and a date. You can add your keepsake lock to the giant heart sculpture in the courtyard of the Blend & Co coffee shop.

OWL AND RABBIT HEART

Bella's House offers stylish consignment furniture and art and Wayne's Attic is a treasure trove of antiques and vintage items. For the book lover, Persnickety Books has hundreds of used books in a cozy atmosphere. If you are looking for a sweet treat, Carolina Sundries has delicious food made daily as well as fresh produce and other grocery items. You can find more information on Downtown Burlington here

Venture out of downtown and explore City Park, which houses an original Dentzel Carousel (currently out for renovation and expected back 2022). Ride the mini-train or take the kids on any of the other three amusement rides in the park. Your family will also enjoy the Splash Park at the Maynard Aquatic Center in the summer, located behind City Park. The Carousel Festival is an annual event at City Park celebrating the carousel and city with local artists, live music, food trucks and much more.

Grab a cup of coffee at Converge on Church Street, featuring Alamance Kaffee Works coffee, or nearby Salvation Coffee Company, a local veteran owned coffee shop.

Burlington is located off exit 145 off Highway I-40.
