Who: Open to all!
What: An Elizabethan costume ball hosted by the local Society for Creative Anachronism [SCA (dot)org].
When: Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 5:30 pm to 10 pm.
Where: Holly Hill Mall Unit 530 (convention space), 309 Huffman Mill Rd, Burlington, NC 27215
Why: Because North Carolina has the only state capital named for a pirate who was beheaded.
How: Wear a Renaissance costume (we can help). Bring some food for a potluck sideboard.
We will be learning and doing dances of a wide range of styles and speeds so there is something for everyone. Bouncy dancing – got it! Courtly, elegant dancing – got it! Weaving through other lines of people – got it! Spinning about to show off your fancy clothes – got it! Everything you need to know will be taught and called during the dancing with the goal of having fun. You don’t need to have any special shoes, have any experience, or bring a partner. Just a desire to have fun!
