End Date:

Have you ever wanted to learn a little more about the night sky? Come join us for some basic stargazing at Cedarock Park. Family friendly. Please sign up on RecDesk (click the ticket link).

What to expect: Our program leader (Jason) will help show you some of the basics of the night sky. This will be a shared learning environment as Jason is just learning the basics as well. We will cover some of the basic tools such as star charts and binoculars as well as discuss naked eye observing using easy to locate objects in the sky.

Who is this for: Anyone with an interest in astronomy. Especially folks who have no experience. If you are already a seasoned astronomy fan we'd love to have you onboard as well. Children are welcome to come. However, if we have telescopes setup, parents should exercise caution around them due to their cost and time commitment to setup. What do you need to bring: The basics, just your eyes but if you own a pair of binoculars, bring them (7-8x power are fine). If you'd like to sit, you could bring a folding chair. We will provide red tinted flashlights, we also have some basic astronomy binoculars we can use. Keep an eye on the weather and wear appropriate clothing. The agenda: At the designated start time we'll meet in the large field just past the historical farm at Cedarock Park. Please park in the large gravel lot on your left. Weather: In case of cloudy conditions we will text & email those registered, in order to cancel. Please make sure you use appropriate contact info when registering!! Notice will be made as late as possible to allow for changing conditions.
